Aldo Conterno, son of the infamous Giacomo Conterno. The Barolo Reserve Granbussia is produced by blending grapes from the oldest vines, from the Romirasco, Cicala, and Colonnello, before fermentation starts, in the following percentages respectively: 70% - 15% - 15%. The Granbussia remains in the cellar for at least 9 years before commercialization. It is produced exclusively in the best years and in limited quantities. Aldo initially worked alongside his brother, Giovanni, under the tutelage of their father, Giacomo, before setting up on his own in 1969. Aldo Conterno passed away in May 2012, succeeded by his 3 sons. Conterno's vineyards are located in the hills of Bussia in the Monforte d'Alba district of Barolo considered to be some of the very best plots in all of the Langhe. The Conterno family has been producing and aging the great Piemontese wines for more than five generations, ranging from excellent Dolcettos and Barberas through to Chardonnay-based whites and "unbeatable" Barolos. He is most renowned for his single vineyard Barolos which are amongst the finest expressions of Nebbiolo to be found anywhere in the world.
