Domaine Baud - 'En Rougemont' - Poulsard Cotes du Jura - 2021
Jura, France
Managed by siblings Clémentine and Bastien, the 9th generation, Domaine Baud continues to flourish and grow, with a strong commitment to sustainable viticulture and preserving the traditions and style that makes the wines of the Jura so unique and incredible. Located in the Jura - a narrow valley in the remote hills between Burgundy and Switzerland which was covered by an ocean millions of years ago - it still bears the fossils of that time. Kick a stone in Jura, and it's likely a fossil. The estate achieved the Terra Vitis certification in 2014 for its eco-friendly work and environmental preservation. It is that amazing terroir where Poulsard grows, one of the most ancient grapes of the region. Its oblong berries are extremely juicy and delicate and the skins are very thin and release very few tannins. This wine is light-bodied. It's fruity and softly tannic. Poulsard drinks like pure grape juice; but fermented. On the nose you get powerful aromas of blackcurrant and strawberry with some sweet hay, mushrooms and oak rounding it out. Without a doubt, a fresh, enjoyable wine for all seasons! Try this wine on it's own or with poultry, pork, roasted veggies or cheese.
As a licensed restaurant, by Ontario liquor law we are required to sell you a single food item if you purchase alcohol.
If you do not specify which food item you'd like your order will come with a bag of Miss Vickies Original chips. They're super tasty :)
