Domaine de Verquière - 'Plan de Dieu' - 2020
Grenache 80%, Syrah 20% In the Middle Ages, it was said that anyone who ventured into this huge forest of scrubland, peopled by bandits, would do well to put their trust in God. This is the legend behind the name ‘Plan de Dieu’, which roughly translates as ‘Plain of God’. The harvest is sorted and completely destemmed as soon as it arrives in the cellar. The varietals are vinified separately at low temperature for 2 to 3 days to really draw out the flavour of the grapes. The rack-and-return process is performed during vinification. The vatting period lasts between 20 and 25 days. Young, dark purple colour. Nose offering fragrances of stone fruits. A velvety Côte de Rhône which is remarkably supple and fruity. This smooth fruit aroma is pleasantly persistent in the wine’s finish.
